Dua Ping Pong School at STQI Toronto

(Enrollment Form Below)

About the School

The Dua Ping Pong School is a joint initiative between Darren Dua and STQI Toronto. Its aim is to cultivate and develop ping pong players in the downtown Toronto area.

This is a unique opportunity to develop the first school Ping Pong in the downtown Toronto area with a professional player and coach.

Anyone interested in seriously learning table tennis and making proper progress will be interested in joining the school. Those new to Ping Pong, beginners, intermediates, and advanced players are welcome!

Who is Darren Dua?

Darren Dua is a professional table tennis player with extensive experience in high-level tournaments and schooling concept for Ping Pong.

He started studying and learning ping pong at the age of 7. He fondly remembers training for 13 hours a day! Among his extensive credentials and experience is reaching 3rd rank in the India State of Delhi (more accurately NCT) and becoming a champion in his zone for 7 straight years.

Darren is excited to continue the next chapter of his life as a coach and carry on his passion, knowledge, and experience with anyone who wants to learn seriously.

He takes his role seriously and will commit to improving students of any level.

Why Play Ping Pong?

Ping pong, or table tennis, is one of those rare sports that you can enjoy as a senior or as a child. It is easy to get into, enjoyable socially, obtain health benefits such as cardio and calorie burn, and can be as challenging as you like.

As a beginner, you will practice basic conditioning exercises, learn proper habits early on, develop basic and intermediate techniques such as pushing the ball, top spin, under spin, basic serving, and improve hand-eye coordination and reflexes.

When you can consistently hit the ball back and forth and play basic games, you will be having a lot of fun, and it's time to develop new techniques and progress!

At the intermediate level, you are practicing more difficult conditioning exercises while developing more power, spin, and control.

This includes learning advanced techniques for forehand and backhand drives, smashes, top spin, and under spin. You will develop many serving techniques as part of your opening arsenal.

By mid-to-late intermediate level, players can attend local tournaments for experience.

At the advanced level, you refine techniques, develop advanced strategies, improve consistency, work on even more powerful footwork and conditioning drills, and participate in ranked tournament matches.

How Does the School Program Work?

Our school year has 3 terms. Each term has 14 weeks of classes over a 4 month period. Generally there is a break week during each term and a couple break weeks at the end of each term.

There are also separate classes for children (under 14 years) and adults (14+).

Students can start any time during the term provided we have space.

Most students will start by enrolling in the the Beginner classes.

Anyone who wants to join the school will be assessed by our head coach, Darren Dua to ensure they start in the best group for development. This assessment will require you to start in the Beginner Classes for assessment and pending your ability, you can move quickly into Intermediate and then Advanced classes.

Our classes have a limit of 8 students and run for 1.5 hours for beginners, and 2 hours for intermediate and advanced students. We provide 3 tables for each class to ensure that students receive full attention in each class.

Our coach provides a proper plan for each student to develop and grow with each class including individual-attention for multi-ball training and homework exercises.

School Fees

The Beginner Group Class fee is $20 + HST for each 1.5 hour session.

The Intermediate Group Class fee is $30 + HST for each 2 hour session.

Our fees follow a proper school Tuition system, and thus group class fees must be paid in advance for the term.

We will prorate fees for those who start after the term begins by reducing the total fees by 10% for each week missed. This helps to account for the additional effort required by the school to get the student started.

Example fee for an entire term, one class per week for beginners: $20 x 14 + HST = $280 + HST.

Example fee for starting halfway in a term, one class per week for beginners: ($20 x 14) - ($18 x 7) + HST = $154 + HST.

Please note that fees are not refundable nor transferrable to future terms (similar to how schools work).

This school system ensures that the coach will invest time into each student and encourage students to take their training seriously.
