What is the Shaolin Virtue of Focus?

The Shaolin Virtue of Focus is about the will power to concentrate one’s mental energy. It is easy to get distracted. One must stay focused to have a clearer perspective, develop awareness, and understanding of oneself. When you are not focused, you may forget what’s important, carry out a task poorly, and get confused easily.

How Will the Shaolin Virtue of Focus Help Me?

By developing your Shaolin Virtue of Focus:

  • You will improve the awareness of yourself
  • You will understand your thoughts, decisions, and actions
  • You will become more clear about what you want in life
  • You will develop clarity of perceptions
  • You will improve your memory and other mental faculties
  • You will develop the proper foundation for developing the Shaolin Virtue of Compassion
  • You will develop the proper foundation for developing wisdom
  • You will be able to calm yourself more effectively

Why is the Shaolin Virtue of Focus Important?

If you do not develop your Shaolin Virtue of Focus:

  • You will get confused easily and may not even know it
  • You will learn less quickly
  • You will forget what’s important

How Do I Develop the Shaolin Virtue of Focus?

  • Meditate regularly
  • Be more present in your thoughts, decisions, and activities
  • Communicate to others when you need to focus

Pitfalls of the Shaolin Virtue of Focus

  • thinking that hyper focusing is good - it actually makes you less aware
  • thinking that failing a task even though one was focused is bad - you did your best so it’s ok!

What Happens When I Apply the Shaolin Virtue of Focus?

As you develop your Shaolin Virtue of Focus:

  • You will be able to improve your capability to learn
  • You will be able to accomplish tasks more efficiently
