It is time to strive and make our mind, body, and spirit even stronger!
The 2025 T2 Summer Term Begins Monday, May 5th, 2025 with 14 weeks of classes. The term ends on Sunday, August 17th, 2025. There is a break week between June 30 and July 6.
Register online at www.stqitoronto.com!
The Adult Kung Fu Level 1 class has been great on Tuesdays at 6 pm and we will continue to offer this class. This level 1 kung fu class is not only for beginners, so we welcome advanced students who want to review and improve their foundation.
We discovered that not many people were interested in the Saturday 12 pm Level 1 Kung Fu class so we have removed it in order to make space for other classes.
The Shaolin Kids Kung Fu Sanda class is moved to 12 pm (instead of 11 am). This makes it possible for kids to train from 10am to 1pm if they desire, and also allows us to train more kids in kung fu taolu forms. Meanwhile, parents and adults can train their joints in the Shaolin Stretch Therapy class :)
*NEW* Shaolin Kung Fu Competition-Preparation-III class on Sundays at 1pm. Master Dao will challenge students to improve their taolu forms for competition. To participate in this class, students must be registered to compete during the 2026 China Trip, and either obtain a Shaolin Kung Fu Level 2 Exam result of 85% or more or Shaolin Kung Fu Level 3 Exam result of 80% or more (adjusted score without the Xinde written component).
Zoom will continue to be offered for Adult Kung Fu Levels 1 and 2 on Saturdays from 1 pm to 3 pm. This is for the foundation and taolu forms class. If you want to train remotely or are not feeling 100%, you can continue to train from home!
The Dua Ping Pong School is continuing to grow and is meant for adults and children who want to seriously improve their skills and game play. We want to start children's ping pong classes on Thursdays at 4 p.m. for 1.5 hours, which will require a minimum of 4 students. If this interests you, please let us know and register!
All other classes of the 2025 T1 Winter Term remain unchanged and will continue in the 2025 T2 Summer Term.
We have officially formed the Shaolin Team Canada China Trip 2026 Committee!
Members from left to right:
1. Amelia Berot-Burns - Communications Director
2. Kelly Cruise - Treasurer
3. Master Dao - Program Manager
4. Candice Brodeur - Public Relations
5. Manuel Rivas - Marketing Director
We will work hard to bring you the most incredible and memorable trip to China and Shaolin Temple!
We will also need volunteers and will send you more information once we are set up, which will be in about 2-3 weeks.
It's not too late to pre-register and join us on this trip to China in 2026 October! Athletes must register by August 31, 2025 and tourists must register by January 31, 2026. We currently have 47 athletes pre-registered and over 75 people in total. It will be a grand time! Pre-registration will close on March 31, 2025 and a new registration form will become available sometime in April or May of 2025.
Did you know that you can invite your family and friends for a FREE trial class? Kung Fu, Tai Chi, or Qigong!
The only requirement is that you must have a valid membership and be an active student with at least 7 tokens in the current or previous term.
To proceed with a free trial class:
1. Your family or friend must have an account at our website.
2. Have them sign up and purchase a Trial Token (ask them to check out but don't pay)
3. Email us at info@stqitoronto.com and let us know that you referred a family member or friend.
We will then zero out the balance, activate the token, and inform them to reserve a spot using our online calendar.
We continue to offer casual Ping Pong on Thursdays at 8 pm at no additional cost when you register for 'Unlimited Shaolin Tokens' this Winter Term. Otherwise, you can drop in for $10 per class and students with at least 7 Shaolin Tokens can purchase 7 or 14 tokens for $5 each token (HST extra).
Please note that casual Ping Pong is not part of the Dua Ping Pong School (see below), and is intended to foster fun and interest in table tennis for students and the public.
Ping pong, or table tennis, is one of those rare sports that you can enjoy as a senior or as a child. It is easy to get into, enjoyable socially, obtains health benefits such as cardio and calorie burn, and can be as challenging as you like.

Learn how Master Dao's Shaolin meditation workshop and philosophy can help bring you peace.
The next worldwide meditation workshop will be held on Monday, June 30th, 2025, at 7 pm EST. The topic for this session is "Overcoming Perceptual Illusions to Find Peace and Happiness".
This topic is a follow-up of the last session where Master Dao spoke about 'Finding Your Spiritual Path Through the Ego-Self'.
He spoke about 'Perceptual-Belief Holes', which are ideas that we believe are very important to us, and cause us to act and behave in a way that causes suffering to ourselves and others. They are like illusions because they are not 'real' in the material sense. We stumble into these holes through our experiences in life, and when we do not even know we are in one, we create blind spots in our ego-self which delay our Spiritual Journey.
Come meditate to calm your mind so that you can see more clearly how you can overcome much suffering by becoming more aware of these Perceptual-Belief holes and learning how to deal with them.

Our popular annual event has returned, and this year, we are continuing to make it an even bigger success! Join our STQI community for some fun and social activities.
This year, the Shaolin camping experience will be hosted at the Warsaw Caves from July 4th to 6th.
The price for the public is $150+HST for adults and $100+HST for children 5-13 years. Children under 5 are free. Active students receive a 20% discount. The price includes all camping fees, all organized activities and classes, and even some meals.
Master Dao organizes Shaolin retreats with the help of his fellow Shaolin Brothers. They provide a space and time for people to develop themselves spiritually and join a growing Shaolin community.

Invite your family and friends!
We will be hosting a fundraising benefit for Shaolin Team Canada athletes, and you will be treated to an intimate performance at Dim Sum King, a 5-minute walk from our downtown Toronto school.
You will also be treated to a 10-course Chinese dinner, and access to exclusive prizes and a silent auction.
More information and registration to purchase tickets will be available in May 2025.
This is our most important school performance of the year, and we certainly raised the bar last summer!
We plan to have an even better performance this year. Please note that the date is tentative (our best guess) as the Chinatown BIA does not confirm the final date until May.
We are already organizing the performance this summer and we invite more students to join our Performance Class on Mondays. We hope to have more students participate in kung fu, tai chi, and qigong routines.
Event Dates: 2 weeks from August 18th to August 29th, Monday to Friday
Enroll your child into our immersive and rewarding all-day kung fu training camp for a week or more! Your child will learn to embrace the Shaolin Virtues to develop focus, willpower, respect, and discipline.
We provide this unique camp to challenge your child and raise their bar for kung fu martial arts. Children who are competing in the 2026 Zhengzhou Shaolin International Wushu Festival will receive additional competition training.
Register early to ensure your child gets in! This popular event is limited to 20 children and fills up every year.
You can find more information and register by visiting our event page on our website:
A kung fu boot camp for teenagers is coming! New to our lineup of annual events, this boot camp will be physically challenging and designed to accelerate the student's progress in martial arts kung fu.
Students will be training exclusively with Master Dao on Saturday, August 30th, and Sunday, August 31st, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm each day with a 1-hour lunch break at noon. Students must bring a lunch so we can run the camp more efficiently.
Additional training will be provided to students competing in the 2026 Zhengzhou Shaolin International Wushu Festival.
All students must be between 13 and 19 years of age.

The summer brings a transition from colder weather to warmer weather. Take this opportunity when you have the most yang energy to train and get stronger!
In the Shaolin Kung Fu Foundation class, we will explore the Shaolin Virtues for children and adults along with themed and progressive content.
In the Shaolin Kung Fu Forms class, we will continue to emphasize 'play sparring' exercises. These will be safe exercises involving control drills and techniques to develop decision-making in simulated encounter situations.
In the Shaolin Sanda Fitness class, we will challenge our cardio and footwork abilities.
In the Shaolin Sanda Sparring class, we will work on our offensive and defensive toolkits, while developing strategies through visualization techniques.
In the Womens Self Defence class, we will emphasize scenario-based self-defence training to deal with real-life situations. Additionally, extra effort will be put into the Ziwei Jibengong taolu form.
The Shaolin Performance Class continues on Mondays from 6pm to 7pm. We are continuing to bring our performance capabilities to new heights for our next performances! All students are encouraged to participate to broaden their experiences in Shaolin Kung and Tai Chi.
Shaolin Tai Chi emphasizes breath with gentle movements to invigorate the body for health and vitality. Breathing better means having more energy in the body and gentle movements improve deeper circulation for the vital organs.
For the Shaolin Tai Chi Foundation and Forms I class, we will emphasize Silk Reeling and the Core in our classes and, explore how we can utilize twisting 'Yang Qi' energy to produce strong 'Yin Qi' energy to temporarily make us stronger in different martial applications. The theory you learn in this class can be applied to kung fu to improve your power and stability!
For the Shaolin Tai Chi Taolu Forms II class, we will emphasize advanced Taolu Forms such as Yun Quan, Rou Quan, Gentle Staff, and Gentle Broadsword. We will also explore Push Hands techniques to enhance our understanding of many techniques, and how the ideas of softness with quick and relaxed movements can overcome powerful strikes.
Students must attend the Shaolin Tai Chi Foundation and Forms I class at least once a week to participate in this class. It is recommended that students have finished the Baburouquan form to ensure they have the necessary fundamentals to understand this class.
Shaolin Qigong is about the awareness of one's energy, and learning how to cultivate it through breath work, and move it around the body. Qigong will improve your understanding and awareness of your energy (Qi), as it relates to your mind and body, and the environment around you. You will be able to make better lifestyle choices based on what you want in life.
In the Shaolin Stretch Therapy class, we will continue to explore how to optimize all the joints in our body.
In the Qigong Foundation class, we will emphasize the Breath Qi with specific qigong exercises.
In the Qigong Forms class, we will investigate the Spleen Vital Organ and Meridian, and learn to manage and diagnose common problems and other disorders through palpation, tongue reading, pulse reading, tuina, and qi flow exercises. We will also work on advanced qi-flow techniques and practice advanced martial qigong forms for overall health and wellness.
We had a great start to the 2025 T1 Winter Term with 9 adult students of the Dua Ping Pong School. Classes are on Wednesdays at 8 pm and Saturdays at 5 pm.
This is a unique opportunity for you to learn from a professional player and coach. Coach Dua has trained extensively since the age of 7 and was a champion for 7 straight years in the highly competitive State of Delhi (NCT). He brings his talent, passion, knowledge, and experience to anyone who wants to learn seriously. What a treat to have him here at STQI!
Registration is open for children under 14 and adults; also for beginners, intermediates, and advanced players, for the 2025 T2 Summer Term. The classes are organized in the same term system as our Shaolin Classes with 14 weeks of classes.
We limit each class to 8 students (with 3 tables) so everyone can learn more intensely.

Our STQI community is growing with over 750 members, and schools established in Markham, Downtown Toronto, and Scarborough. Discord will help support the social experience for our students and also the public. So everyone is welcome to join!
Please click the link below to join our STQI Discord Server:
Feel free to share this with your friends and family!
What can Discord do?
Discord is a free service that allows you to join a 'server'. We have our own STQI server. Primarily, Discord is great for contacting other people, such as instructors, students, etc. You can make voice and video calls, send messages, and participate in Shaolin-related discussions, including sharing photos and videos.
Overall, it's a great way to create a social community, and you can connect with students from our school, STQI Markham, and STQI Scarborough. Students can arrange social meetings for meals, gaming, etc.
You can access Discord from your phone (iPhone and Android supported), tablet, and desktop computer.
It will take some time to learn this new software. Ensure you read the 'welcome-and-rules' section on how to setup properly. Students will be 'validated' and given the correct permissions to access many resources and channels for their school.
What can the Public do?
Those who are not students will benefit from getting more involved in our events throughout the year including workshops, performances, public events like our Shaolin Retreats, free resources on Shaolin Kung Fu, Qigong, and Tai Chi, Meditation, and access to our photos and videos.
